Stain Rx, a more than 45-year-old stain remover, has been proven by independent lab testing (see website for results) to completely remove more than 20 tough stains, including everything from red wine to tomato sauce.  Hard to remove stains such as gravy, grape juice, strawberries, raspberries, ketchup, balsamic vinegar, coffee and tea, completely dissolve with the use of Stain Rx.

Because Stain Rx does not contain harsh oxidizing agents, such as peroxide or chlorine bleach, there is no damage to even the most delicate fabrics. The product is strong enough to rejuvenate both white and colored fabric when added to a regular wash load.

In addition, Stain Rx was thoroughly examined and evaluated by a test panel from the Cooking Club of America.  A group of 550 members granted the product its Recommended Seal of Approval, based on their evaluation of 10 different attributes, including quality, performance and appearance.

Ammonia, warm water, baking soda, laundry detergent… grandma’s timeless stain removal remedies run the gamut when taking on strawberries, red wine, mascara, blood, pet urine, ketchup, or iodine. Stains on carpet and laundry were as challenging in grandma’s day as they are today.

While the list of the toughest stains seems as long as our patience for fighting them is short, some stain removers can tackle stains from a wine spill, pet accident or other liquids better than others. But whether you’re using a family remedy or a store-bought product, a few tips can help ensure – or at least improve your changes for – success.

For many people, cleaning tarnished brass and copper is a timeless frustration. Most use a variety of household remedies.

Some find a combination of toothpaste and Worcestershire sauce to work. But eHow.com notes that the mixture may not be as powerful as a commercial cleaner.

Stain Rx has been used for decades to remove from surfaces, clothing, carpet and upholstery stains, including those from red wine, berries, blood, iodine, grass, and fresh hair dye. It even tackles grease and sauces.

Recently we discovered that it’s also an effective solution for cleaning tarnished brass and copper household items. We tested it on copper-clad cookware, bathroom fixtures, door and cabinet hardware, and uncoated brass.

The results were as impressive as they were easy to achieve. Simply soak the item to restore it to its original shine. Depending on the severity of the tarnish, the process can take from one hour to one night.

With the wide variety of stains people encounter every day, having one product to tackle almost all of them can be a relief.

Have you found any new uses for your favorite stain remover? Do you have any household remedies or solutions that work well on particularly difficult stains? Leave a comment to let us know.

Please Note: With certain collectables – removing the tarnish/patina may affect the value of your item.
